About Us

Belief Engine is Mike Monroe and Scott McKie, and is based out of the Pacific Northwest- a stone’s throw away from Seattle. It began as a moonlighting venture to publish our own projects, and fortunately has grown since then to now become our dayjobs.

The name Belief Engine does not refer to any specific technical software, or video game engine. Instead it was inspired by the concept from psychologist James Alcock, who describes the human brain itself as a “belief engine”- one that is constantly interpreting information coming in from all senses and then reconstructing that into perceived reality, as well as one’s own personal concept of truth.

Something about that concept sort of resonated with us, especially as a very small independent company formed to explore our own projects and ideas outside of mainstream work.
